Mike says...

the world must be coming to an end because I just ordered my first cell phone. We are now (or will soon be) a three cell phone family. The boys will be sharing a phone. This process has been a very interesting lesson in reading the fine print. I love when I can share real life lessons with my children. The cell phone will bring more lessons, I'm sure.

Lazy Days of Summer?

It is a quiet morning here. I hope you are well rested from a good night's sleep. I haven't been blogging much this summer for many reasons. One is that, of course, we've been busy. The weather has been wonderful, not too cold, not too hot. It hasn't been the greatest swimming pool weather but we've still enjoyed our membership. I did a little sewing and have a baby quilt top finished and on the design wall. I'll try to get a picture up soon.

Currently Mike has our bedroom dresser in my sewing room because he's working on painting our bedroom. The boys and I are in the midst of our church youth group work camp. This is our first year as I have a child old enough to participate this year. It has been a great experience so far. Both my boys are participating because I volunteered all week. I can't tell you how proud I am of both of them. They have weeded parishoners' gardens, taken apart computers and helped with activities at a local nursing home. Not one complaint have I heard. All the teens are really stepping up to the plate.
I just finished another class toward my certification. I wish I could have taken two this summer but it just didn't work out. I know God works in His own time with everything. As I was weeding a garden and wheeling the wise (my word for the elderly) I realized that I could quit my job tomorrow and just be a full time volunteer. I do love it so much. But....for everything there is a season. My boys have been such wonderful volunteers that I know we'll continue helping in many capacities. I'm seeing their gifts emerge. It has been a gift to me to watch them mature.

Well, enough of my early morning muse. I must get to the store. Tomorrow's work camp involves baking for our bake sale. We are raising money for this organization. Happy Wednesday!
